On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it for an adult to learn to play the violin/fiddle? ?

I would really love to learn, and realize practice will terrify the cats for a while.

if ya wanna play bad enough you can learn the basics, and then it’s up to you..fingering is fairly easy to learn(plus you can use the same fingering for other stringed instruments!)…BUT proper bow technique is a b**** to get used to! And that’s the name of the game with the fiddle.I’d put fingering about a 5 and bow about 9 or l0 to command!

With a teacher, learning should not be difficult. Without a teacher you may feel you are doing pretty good, bu the day will come when you will be totally frustrated. You thought you were doing it right and now you are confused.
Good Luck
Violin never bothered my cats. It was the louder instruments that drove them into hiding.

obviously it’s much harder for an adult to learn than a child. also the voilin isnt an easy instrument to learn! it takes a lot of determination and love for the sound that it can potentially make to do well! it really depends how dedicated you are willing to be, and also what method you intend to learn. it also depends whether or not you can already read music, or whter you just want to learn by ear. because learning rudiments of music is a whole other area. however, with a lot of practice it certainly is rewarding and fun! and does get easier as it becomes more enjoyable after getting past the first stages!!

10.

It’s an extremely hard instrument for anyone to learn, adult or not… but it’s also very rewarding for the same reason. Make sure you are determined not to give up before you start!
