If people learn how to play instruments from teachers who taught the teachers?

by admin on December 7, 2009

Who taught the teachers? Like in the beginning of time, when people just invented instruments.

Teachers learned from other teachers who came before them.

Throughout prehistory and history, the first person to invent a new musical instrument was probably the one who figured out how to play it and taught others.

Good question…I would think those teachers had teachers. Because to teach any instrument, a LOT of private teachers teach how they were taught, somewhat.

They taught themselves.
Let’s say that you invent a new instrument. You’re the only one who’s going to know how to play it at first, so therefore you teach yourself and then you teach others. Duh.

Well first the instrument was invented. Then people messed with it and taught themselves. That’s why there’s principles of music because without basic skills then people cant play.

this must be STUPID QUESTION DAY… Most MUSIC TEACHERS learned to play FROM OTHER MUSIC TEACHERS… because even the EXPERT needed to learn from another expert.

I have been a professional musician for over 50 YEARS and I STILL take an hour from a ‘teacher’ from time… the BIG DIFFERENCE between YOU and Me is.. MY ‘TEACHERS’ have names you would recognize and they cost me up to $1000 PER HOUR for instruction.
