Tony Award-winning actress Viola Davis has managed to stay out of the Hollywood limelight, despite a consistent acting resume that includes roles in everything from TV shows like ‘Law & Order’ to films like ‘Antwone Fisher.’
Now, a new movie could win her some well-deserved recognition. She plays a key role in the new film, ‘Doubt,’ based on the Broadway play of the same name.
It’s a story about recriminations and allegations at an all-white Catholic school in the Bronx during the 1960s.
She speaks with Farai Chideya.

I been saying black for black people long before this woman, so don’t give her all the credit.
In the movie she …
In the movie she was good but not great I could have done that part better. It’ s not what you who you know but what you know. She wasn’t great
I like all her …
I like all her answers to the questions. I’ve seen Doubt, and I must say that she was so amazing in that film. She only has about 15 minutes, yet she was able to give parallel performance with Meryl Streep.
What a truly …
What a truly beautiful woman. Viola Davis may not have won the Oscar this year, but she will get another chance. She has just scratched the surface of her talent, which is extraordinary. To have such an impact on a movie in ONE SCENE … that takes a gifted actor. I hope Viola Davis gets even bigger and better roles in the future, because she deserves the very best!
She is a brilliant …
She is a brilliant actress. The Oscar Race this year was very tight and anyone’s chance to win. Penelope Cruz won. Viola’s role was only 10 minutes long. The last time an actress one for a 10 minute role was Judi Dench for Shakespear in Love where she played the queen. Remember the time this role was in a black woman in the 1960’s and you will understand her choices. The woman who played this one scene on Broadway in the Play won the Tony for this role. Viola went to Juliard. Thanks.

I would love to see her and Angela Bassett in great movie together.
I HOPE SHES BEING …
I HOPE SHES BEING LOVED RIGHT,
She IS BEAUTIFUL….
This is the first …
This is the first time I believe I’ve seen Miss Davis on screen. Up until her performance started, I thought that Meryl Streep and Amy Adams were very good. When Viola came on, I was stunned. She took that part and soar above all the other actors. I could not take my eyes or ears from her performance and was so moved I had a difficult time getting back into the film. Short part or not, Viola Davis gave the best performance lead or supporting. It will be a crime if she does not win.
Viola Davis is on …
Viola Davis is on the verge of an artistic breakthrough. She has been a journey actress over the years. It is so wonderful to see and hear Viola talk so candidly about her faith. There is no pretense. She is unabashed and gives God the glory. You can tell she’s more grounded than the usual Hollywood actor or actress. Viola is articulate, spiritual, funny, insightful, talented, and a beautiful woman. Kudos to Viola Davis.
Can I say? Could we …
Can I say? Could we please get more people like this on US and British TV/Radio? Both Viola and the journalist? I mean people who have interesting things to say and ask, people who know how to speak with proper words and how to think and convey an idea, not the “like” or the “you know” types!…
And to both Viola and the journalist, thank you, THANK YOU for using the word “black” again! I personally think that “African-American” is one of the most racist appellations around. You are brilliant!
go Viola. go Viola
go Viola. go Viola
