I play all three of them, and I think you should start with piano. The price of each of them can vary so I can't really say which one would be cheaper. I mean, if you're starting piano - you should start with a keyboard (which are from $100) just to see if its your thing. Similarly, violins and some basic guitars are $100. The thing with piano is that it's really easy to catch on to, I guess you just need to understand the theory. You're 13, do you have like music as a subject in your high school?? You should do it, its well worth it. And once you can apply the theory on one instrument (easiest with piano), you can apply it with any. Then its just all about skill afterwards. Hope this helps X!
References :
As long as you are in a craigslist/pawn shop nearby area, any of these will be cheap. Starter violins new will go for the same price as starter guitars, while used keyboards go for very cheap ($20) very often and pianos are frequently free on craiglist because they need someone to help take it off their hands.

That being said, I, as a kid played the violin. I loved it... in an orchestra, I HATED it by myself. I then turned to piano, but never got into. I then went to bass and finally guitar, which I love love love love love.

My advice would be to figure out what inspires you most, if you love a certain player/figure for that instrument, go that route. I would only say be wary of a violin because there is very little you can do to sound good early, after five years of violin, I still do not sound good on my own and do not play. BUT being in an orchestra was the most invigorating experiences of my high school years...
References :
played and have all three, right now!

They're right, guitar and violin are a little painful on the fingers.
For a beginner, violin is the most expensive- you'd think piano but you can find cheap working keyboards (and guitars) everywhere. Careful not to buy a dodgy one though! Around $100 is usually a safe bet. Buy from friends, or borrow, and test them out before you pick one.
If you want to play an instrument to be in bands or just for fun, go with guitar- you can be good enough to play your favourite songs reasonably quickly.
However, if you really want to be a musician, play piano. It'll give you solid grounding in theory, aural (hearing) and technique for all other instruments. I play all three to an extent, and i know piano is the most helpful (violin, however, is the most satisfying when you finally get it right!)
References :
piano is d best but i personally love the sound of violin, so i would suggest u learn violin. Also, its quite uncommon unlike a piano player who is alweays easily available..

to learn any instrument, u need to hv one at home for ur compulsory practice, otherwise its fruitless....piano is good too and so is violin, i dont like guitar so i woldnt encourage u to go for it, But then, its my point of view!
Best of Luck!
References :
I play piano and guitar and french horn

If your into allot of bands then i would suggest you choose guitar
If you like classical music and fancy passages then i would say piano
Though violin is amazing too
I would really like to start playing violin as it is aa beautiful instrument but takes allot of commitment

viloin and gutair are the cheaper options at about a £100
piano is expensive to start
References :
Well I don't know which one but if you play guitar (which I am trying to do LOL) then you will get sore finger tips. I can play like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the piano and it was quite easy to learn:D As for violin I have never tried to play it so I don't know. If you are thinking of buying one of the instruments I think piano would be dearest and a good guitar is more than a $100 I would say. But that is only a rough estimate.
Don't know if this helped at all.
